About TabDesk
TabDesk is a new project mixing an 'old' internet idea of a simple web directory with a 'new' user generated approach. You could call it a socially built search engine.
Who are we ?
TabDesk is managed by a small group of seasoned internet people. We work together, from various locations, on a range of small to medium sized projects including content syndication and micro-publishing. The TabDesk Search Directory is one of our latest and most exciting projects.
TabDesk Beta Launch
We launched TabDesk originally in beta form in August 2009 to get the ball rolling. Had a good rebuild in September and is running nicely at the moment. No search engine is any good without lots of sites and the process of building up the directory is going to take many, many months. Why not join up as an Editor and give us a hand !
Latest Updates
The TabDesk team are currently rolling out another project so updates are a little slow at the moment. Please bear with us !
Mobile search results are now layered so mobile results are preferred and always show first.
The rollout of the new social editing Editor system is starting today. New Editor signup will be closed till further notice.
The beta version of TabDesk mobile search has now been launched at m.tabdesk.com.
Local level geo updates completed. Not perfect, but it's working better for sub country level searching. Very little content available yet though !
Geo layer system now live. Local tabs can now layer next to or instead of global tabs dependent on content.
Substantial search algorithm updates released. Marked improvement on beta testing systems.
Tab description system live. All tabs now have detailed description to help Editors select the best sites.
