About Editors
TabDesk is a User Generated Search Directory which means that the search results, titles and descriptions are provided and maintained by people like you - our Editors.
Anyone can add a link without registering, but only Editors, working together, approve the links and select which ones make it into the directory.
Becoming an Editor
The process is simple. Select a username and register, select Tabs (the groups of links) that interest you and get started. It's obviously free and there's no obligation to actually do anything or continue as an Editor if you change your mind. You do as much editing as you want whenever you want. You can set up your profile so other Editors can see who you are, or simply remain an anonymous username. It's your call.
Getting Involved
TabDesk is a social environment. Because you can select Tabs on your interests, you can become part of the discussion around that Tab. Editors can post messages discussing links, descriptions or anything related to that topic and chat with other Editors with the same interests. Of course, if you want to keep yourself to yourself and just edit, then you can do that to !
How Do I Actually Edit ?
Simple. Firstly, you just vote for the links that you think suit the Tab best. So, say you join the 'Cricket' Tab, you just vote for which of the links posted under the Cricket Tab are the best for that Tab. Not sure which is best ? Send a message to other Editors on that Tab and discuss it.
Secondly, any Editor can make an edit to a link title or description. Other Editors then review it and decide whether it's better or not.
Editors can post their own links to any Tab as well. Posts from Editors get priority over regular link posts but will still need votes from other Editors to get into the directory.
Editor Ratings
TabDesk needs good Editors, so the more and better you edit, the more your Editor rating increases. As your rating increases, your Editor Level changes. You start as a Sub-Editor, but with progress, you move to Editor, then Senior Editor and finally Managing Editor. Each change to the Editor Level allows you more control over the system. For example, Senior Editors can change links instantly on the directory without approval from other Editors and Managing Editors can even create their own Tabs.
Help and Advice
The online system is easy to use and contains lots of context sensitive advice. Of course, we are always available to help you should you get stuck.
Tab Suggestion
If you are interested in something particular and want to work on a Tab that isn't in the list of available Tabs (available to see via your online account), then you can suggest one to us and one of our Managing Editors will see if we can create it.
