TabDesk Local Search

Local Tabs

Each TabDesk Tab has a Region, a Category, and a Language. The Region is usually either Global, because the links can be useful to anyone in the World, or Country Level regional, because the links are best suited to a particular country. Sometimes we store both and will decide which is best to show you depending on your search and your location.

We also have Regions smaller than Country level. In fact, we can create Tabs for Regions as small as a single street, although in practice this doesn't make much sense unless it's Fifth Avenue or Oxford Street.

Accessing Local Results

By default, we don't show Tabs with Regions smaller than Country level because generally, you don't want the page cluttered with smaller, regional results.

To search for Local Tabs, just add 'in' into your search term. So, for example, instead of searching for 'restaurant guides', you would search for 'restaurants guides in london'. This will activate the regional search system and provide you, if anything is available, with local level results.

Depending on the Tab, you may still see Country or Global Tabs if they are available. Sometimes however, we remove larger regions because they will confuse the results.
